British citizens getting married in the Sorrento Coast, Amalfi Coast, Capri or Ischia must obtain a ‘Nulla Osta’ from theBritish Consulate in Italy. To get the ‘Nulla Osta’ British Nationals must provide the following documents:
Certificate of No impediment - You must give notice of marriage to a UK Superintending registrar. After 2/3 weeks the Registry Office releases a document called "Certificate of No Impediment". (You must obtain 2 separate certificates of No Impediment - one for the Bride and one for the Groom).
To get married in the Sorrento Coast, Amalfi Coast, Capri or Ischia an Irish National must apply for a "Certificate de Coutume" or "Certificate of Nulla Osta".

Your certificate of Freedom to marry will be sent by the Department of Foreign Affairs to the Irish Embassy in Rome who will then forward it to the district where you will be married.
US citizens getting married in the Sorrento Coast, Amalfi Coast, Capri or Ischia must provide the following documents :
1. PASSPORT for a civil and/or ID Card for a member of the Army forces;
2. Copy of full BIRTH CERTIFICATE with the name of both parents. This document must be translated into Italian and it must also be certified with an APOSTILLE by the Notary Public of the State where the document has been originated in. Under Italian law the Apostille is only valid for 6 months.
1. Formal letter (NULLA OSTA) from your parish priest granting permission for the wedding to be performed in a specific church in the Sorrento Coast, Amalfi Coast, Capri and Ischia.
This letter is required by the Italian Curia to show that you have received permission from your parish priest to have your wedding ceremony performed. It should certify that your priest knows you and allows you to get married at the Italian Church of XXXXXX at the date XXXXX. This letter needs to be written on the letterhead paper of your Parish.
